Poker has a long history that spans nearly 1,100 years. According to certain historians, poker's origins are traced back nearly 1,100 years ago to a tenth-century Chinese emperor. He is believed to have had a unique psychic ability to forecast the future. Others say it was a descendant of the ancient card game , known as solitaire which was invented in Venice, Italy. Experts believe that it began to decrease as a result of the decline in card players as well as the rise in the population of rural areas. Over the years the game has evolved to what it is now.
